Indoors, we created a soft, neutral palette with rich textures and sculptural details. Thoughtful lighting and symmetry ground each space while art collected from the homeowners’ travels brings personality to each room. At the heart of the home is a chef’s kitchen, thoughtfully designed for a wife who loves to cook. Furniture selections emphasize comfort and stain-resistant fabrics proved effective when a tipsy guest spilled red wine on a white chair during their first dinner party. (The stain came out, no stress, no mess!)

Outdoors, a three-season porch features custom swing beds, the couple’s favorite place to relax. A ten-person sauna and features like in-floor heating, snow-melt driveways, steam showers, and indoor and outdoor fireplaces make it as cozy in February as it is lively in July. Subtle nods to their Texan heritage appear throughout, like the stair newel post engraved with the Texas star. There’s even a vintage red phone booth that the couple brought back from London, a playful focal point in the main living area. Every corner of the home reflects a spirited collaboration between our interior design team, the architect, the builder – and above all the homeowners — made for very best of Northern Michigan living.
